Sarah Murnaghan is a 10 year old girl who has end stage cystic fibrosis. She needs a lung transplant to live but she is one year too young to get an adult lung. Children’s lungs are much harder to come by. She has weeks to live.

It is policy that says she is too young to get an adult lung, although her doctors have said she could survive with one. The whole situation is a terrible, terrible tragedy.

The situation takes an interesting turn because Sarah’s family is now pleading with the government to change the policy.  Rep. Lou Barletta, R-Pa., told Sebelius, “Time is running out, please suspend the rules until we look at this policy, which we all believe is flawed.”

Sibelius responded,  “Forty people in your home state are waiting for a lung.”

If the image of a citizen begging and pleading for life saving treatment from the federal government doesn’t scare the hell out of you, I don’t know what will. Welcome to Obamacare people.
