According to a new survey by insurancequotes.com, 61% think healthcare costs will go up as a result of reform. The deadline to purchase health insurance under the new Affordable Health Care Act is Jan 1, 2014, but 64% say they have not decided whether they will purchase insurance.
The reason uninsured people are not purchasing insurance is that they cannot afford it. Sixty-one percent say they cannot afford to purchase insurance and they are unclear how the ACA will help them afford it. “But many of these consumers aren’t clear whether that will change as a result of reform.” While the ACA provides subsidies to individuals that meet certain income requirements, people are just confused about how that will affect them, 58% are confused on their eligibility for assistance.
