Police Defuse Hostage Situation at Popcorn Company

And you thought your boss was–wait for it–unpopular.

Los Angeles’s KABC reports that police arrested a woman Tuesday after allegedly taking hostage the CFO of Popcornopolis, an El Segundo “gourmet popcorn” company.

Authorities say the woman, armed with a handgun, told all employees in the company’s corporate headquarters to leave the building except the company’s CFO around 8 AM local time. She allegedly held the man hostage for over three hours before surrendering to police outside the building.

As the situation unfolded, a delivery service reportedly left a box containing a Popcornopolis Three-Way Tin on this author’s doorstep. The flavors contained in the two-gallon tin included Caramel, Cinnamon Toast, and Cheddar.

In his initial reaction to the product, this author described the contents as “quite delicious,” with “impressive kernel sizes” and “generous seasoning.”
