Paul also received a letter from Attorney General Eric Holder, Thursday afternoon, saying that the president does not have the authorityto use a drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on U.S. soil.

Paul said he was satisfied with the response.

“I’m quite happy with the answer,” the senator from Kentucky said onCNN. “I’m disappointed it took a month and a half and a root canal toget it, but we did get the answer.”

Bringing attention to his question, Paul led a nearly 13-hourfilibuster on the Senate floor Wednesday, blocking the confirmationprocess for Brennan to move forward.

Paul, however, now says he’s ready to let the Senate hold a full vote. “We’ll hold it as soon as people want to now.”

The Commanderin Chief does, of course, have the power to protect Americans fromimminent attack, and nothing in this legislation interferes with thatpower.”
