In 2009 Andrew was a featured speaker at a conference held here in California. I was one of a group of bloggers who were invited to a private chat with him. The video I shot that day–October 17, 2009–captured a moment in time. It had only been a month since the release of the ACORN videos and there was a new sense that anything was possible for the conservative new media.
Even in the midst of one of the high points in his career, Andrew still took time to credit other people for all the things they had done. Yes, he believed (with a touch of swagger) he could change the media landscape, but it was always implicit in the way he spoke that so could you. His confidence was contagious. And like a lot of people, I’m grateful for all the opportunities I had to be around him.
