Jennifer Lawrence scolded a reporter at the Golden Globes Sunday night for apparently looking down at his cellphone while he asked her a question in the press room.
Lawrence picked up her third Golden Globe, Best Actress for her role in Joy, during Sunday night’s ceremony. But the actress appeared visibly annoyed when the reporter attempted to ask her a question, cutting him off mid-sentence.
“How do you see yourself for the Oscars night– ” the reporter, speaking in a heavy foreign accent, began.
“You can’t live your whole life behind your phone, bro,” Lawrence tsk-tsked the reporter, with full finger wag on display. “You just – you can’t do that. You’ve gotta live in the now.”
After apologizing, the reporter attempted to re-ask the question and was promptly shut down again.
“How do you see yourself for the Oscar night, and how was working– ” the reporter started.
“We’re at the Golden Globes,” Lawrence replied coolly. “If you put your phone down, you’d know that.”
It appeared the journalist was attempting to ask the actress how she felt her Globe win might affect her chances at next month’s Academy Awards, but Lawrence never let him finish. One reporter who claimed to be sitting immediately in front of Lawrence in the press room said that the man had been taking photos of the actress with his phone while he asked the question.
Lawrence’s shutdowns drew big laughs in the press room, but fared less well on Twitter, where the actress was taken to task for her seeming insensitivity.

In September 2014, Lawrence was targeted by hackers who leaked nude photos that the actress had snapped with her cell phone onto the Internet.
