A number of Stars sat down with The Hollywood Reporter this week at the Toronto International Film Festival to discuss the state of American politics, with London-born actress Emily Blunt expressing a feeling of regret over recently becoming a U.S. citizen.
The Sicario star said during a conversation about who would make a good presient, “I became an American citizen recently, and that night, we watched the Republican debate and I thought, ‘This was a terrible mistake. What have I done?'”
In addition to the upcoming 2016 election’s crowded field of candidates, Matt Damon, Ellen Page, Josh Brolin, Sandra Bullock and others name dropped a few celebrities they would like to see run for president.
While actor and producer Geoffrey Rush stated, “I don’t like the idea of a celebrity president. It just seems wrong,” other stars obliged the trade publication with suggestions.
Michael Moore, Oliver Stone, Oprah Winfrey, Britney Spears, and Kanye West were all brought up as possible candidates, but Bullock was also asked to weigh-in on the idea of her running for president.
“I’d do such a good job!” Bullock joked. “I’d clean this s—t up!”
Bullock also added: “How about someone who really cares about our country and wants to make it great for everyone and equal for everyone? That’s a crazy concept! I think we should put that out there as an idea.”
On GOP frontrunner Donald Trump’s success, Matt Damon said, ”That appeal with Trump is kind of the no-nonsense, tell it like it is.”
