USA Network postponed the Wednesday night season finale of its Mr. Robot television show because a scene in the episode resembled the murders of two television reporters live on air Wednesday morning in Virginia.
“The previously filmed season finale of Mr. Robot contains a graphic scene similar in nature to today’s tragic events in Virginia,” USA said in a statement. “Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight’s episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time.”
Alison Parker, 24, a television reporter for CBS affiliate WDBJ-TV in Roanoke, Virginia, and Adam Ward, 27, a cameraman for the station, were shot and killed by a gunman Wednesday morning while delivering a report live on air. Vester Flanagan, a 41-year-old former employee of the station who used the name Bryce Williams professionally, reportedly shot and killed himself after posting video of the attack on social media.
USA Network will air the season finale of Mr. Robot on September 2 at 10 p.m., according to Deadline. The network will air last week’s episode in its place.
