Miley Cyrus took to her Twitter account Thursday afternoon to urge her nearly 20 million followers to call Sen. Tom Cotton in response to the freshman Republican’s support of Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
“Let’s stir some sh*t up,” Cyrus tweeted:
Cyrus, who has been vocal in her opposition to the Indiana law, appeared to make the request of her followers after watching an interview Cotton gave on Monday in which he urged critics of Indiana’s new law to “have a sense of perspective” with regard to the new legislation. Cyrus included a link to Cotton’s interview in a separate tweet.
“I think it’s important we have a sense of perspective,” Cotton said during a Monday interview with CNN. “In Iran they hang you for the crime of being gay.”
On Thursday, the law was amended to include specific language that prohibits businesses from anti-gay discrimination.
