At least 13 Americans have been victimized by illegal migrant crime, according to headlines published during the past week.
Illegal migrants have been suspected or convicted of several crimes against American citizens recently—including murder, sexual assault, stolen identity, assault, theft, attempted murder, and illegally re-entering the U.S.
Of the Americans victimized by illegal migrant crime recently, three had been murdered, six had been victims of sexual assault, two suffered injuries from assaults, one was robbed, and another had been a victim of identity theft.
To give a greater perspective of the crimes committed against American citizens, here are ten recent headlines that tell the stories of the crimes illegal migrants have been suspected or convicted of and their victims.
1. Officials: Illegal Alien Beheads 13-Year-Old Special Needs Girl, Murders Grandmother
An illegal alien and an immigrant in the U.S. on a green card were apprehended in Alabama for brutally murdering a 49-year-old grandmother and beheading her 13-year-old special needs granddaughter, investigators said.
Yoni Aguilar, 26, and Israel Palomino, 34, were charged with capital murder for allegedly slaying Oralia Mendoza, 49, and her 13-year-old granddaughter for Mendoza’s alleged connection to the Sinaloa Mexican drug cartel, AL.com reported.
The men allegedly took Mendoza to a cemetery, stabbed her to death, and decapitated her granddaughter in a separate location.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency has also placed a detainer request against Aguilar for being in the U.S. illegally.
2. Suspect in Burned Body Murder Was Twice in ICE Custody Before Killing
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials announced last Friday that a man accused of murdering his ex-coworker and then burning his body was released from ICE custody two times before his arrest.
KSAT reported that Ernesto Esquivel Garcia, 20, was arrested and charged with murder, arson, and abuse of a corpse for allegedly murdering Jared Vargas on June 18.
ICE placed a detainer on Garcia the same day of his arrest, but Garcia had been in ICE custody two times before—once in March 2017 and once in May 2018.
An immigration judge gave Garcia a voluntary departure order on May 19, 2018, just weeks before the alleged murder.
3. Illegal Alien Uber Driver Sentenced to 19 Months for Assaulting Woman in Washington, DC
A judge sentenced an illegal alien in Maryland who worked as an Uber driver to 19 months behind bars last Friday for sexually assaulting a female passenger in D.C.’s Capitol Hill neighborhood in December 2017.
Selvin Chocooj, a 32-year-old Guatemalan national, was sentenced to 19 months behind bars after pleading guilty in April to one count of third-degree sexual abuse, the Washington Examiner reported.
4. DHS Officials, Border Patrol Agents Arrest 117 Illegal Aliens—Including 3 Criminal Illegal Aliens
Special agents with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and Border Patrol arrested 117 illegal aliens in El Paso, Texas, including three criminal illegal aliens, according to a statement from ICE.
According to ICE, the following criminal illegal aliens were taken into ICE custody:
- a 34-year-old Guatemalan with an outstanding warrant out of Florida for driving under the influence, and also charged with illegally re-entering the U.S. after deportation;
- a 30-year-old Mexican with ties to a Mexican drug cartel was arrested for fraud and misuse of visas; and
- a 32-year-old Mexican with convictions for child endangerment and driving while intoxicated, was arrested for illegally re-entering the U.S. after deportation.
5. Illegal Alien Gets 37 Months in Prison for Faking Citizenship, Stealing More than $350,000 in Benefits
A judge sentenced an illegal alien, who is a Mexican national, to 37 months behind bars for defrauding local, state, and federal agencies out of more than $350,000 and impersonating an American citizen for more than 30 years.
The federal judge sentenced Andres Avelino Anduaga, of Tijuana, to 37 months in prison and ordered him to repay $360,908.85 to the county of San Diego, the California Department of Health Care Services, and the Social Security Administration, KSWB reported.
Anduaga used a birth certificate from a U.S. citizen to assume his fake identity and obtained a Social Security card and California driver’s license to prove it, according to court documents. He then used his fake identity to commit various crimes during a 22-year period.
6. Police: Suspected Illegal Alien Charged with Sexually Assaulting 15-Year-Old
A Texas man whom authorities suspect is in the U.S. illegally was arrested and charged last Sunday with sexual assault after he allegedly introduced a 15-year-old girl to a police officer as his “wife,” police said.
Police nabbed Jose Nahun Lopez-Cruz, 24, for parking illegally in a handicap spot in a neighborhood south of downtown Dallas. When an officer approached him, he told the officer the girl was only 15 years old.
“It’s OK, she is gonna be 16 soon,” Lopez-Cruz allegedly told the officer, according to police records. The police officer, who was not amused by his statement, arrested Lopez-Cruz on Sunday and charged him with sexually assaulting a minor and drug possession.
7. Agents: Syrian Migrant Confronts ICE Agents with Illegal Firearm
A Syrian migrant living near Indianapolis allegedly confronted agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) with a handgun illegally in his possession.
Breitbart News reported Saturday that officials charged Majid Al Helwani, 24, who was living in the U.S. on a non-immigrant tourist visa, with counts of unlawfully purchasing and possessing firearms and lying on federal documents in his attempt to purchase additional weapons.
Officials said the foreign national had an AR-15 in his possession, as well as the handgun.
8. Officials: Illegal Alien Deported 11 Times Attacked His Wife with a Chainsaw in Front of Police
An illegal alien deported from the U.S. 11 times allegedly attacked his wife with a chainsaw in front of his children in California.
Authorities arrested Alejandro Alvarez-Villegas, 32, while he allegedly was attempting to flee the scene in a stolen SUV. Officers said they responded to a report of a woman with “traumatic physical injuries inflicted by a chainsaw.”
ICE officials said that Alarez-Villegas has been removed from the U.S. 11 “times since 2005” and have placed a detainer on him. California law, however, prohibits local authorities from cooperating with federal immigration agents.
9. Illegal Alien “Lyft” Driver Accused of Raping Four Women
An illegal alien working for the ridesharing company Lyft was accused of raping four women.
Authorities arrested Orlando Vilchez Lazo, a 36-year-old illegal alien from Peru, in connection with the rapes of four women. The San Francisco Police Department said he fit the suspect profile of the “ride-share rapist.” Police charged him for each of the rapes and held him on $4.2 million bond.
ICE requested that Lazo be subject to deportation if he is released from prison, but California’s sanctuary state policies bar local authorities from coordinating with ICE officials.
10. Illegal Alien Accused of Trying to Rob, Stab Woman in Home Invasion
A Guatemalan national in the U.S. illegally was accused of trying to rob and stab a Florida woman during a home invasion.
The 32-year-old illegal alien, who assumed the fake name “Samuel Hernandez,” told police he wanted to rob his victim’s home to steal enough cash to repay the smugglers who trafficked him across the U.S.-Mexico border. Police charged Hernandez with attempted murder, and ICE officials have placed a detainer on him.
