President Donald Trump updated reporters on his planned meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un on Tuesday, suggesting it would take place in early June.

“That will be taking place probably in early June or a little before that, assuming things go well,” Trump said.

But he remained open to the possibility that the meeting could be canceled in the wake of bad behavior from North Korea.

“Its possible things won’t go well and we won’t have the meetings and we’ll just continue to go along this very strong path that we’ve taken,” he said.

The president described Japan and the United States as “locked” and “unified” on North Korea and hinted that there were five different locations that he was considering for the meeting.

He added that both North Korea and South Korea had his “blessing” to talk about ending the Korean war, reminding reporters that the war was still officially ongoing.

“They are discussing an end to the war,” he said. “Subject to a deal they have my blessing and they do have my blessing to discuss that.”

Leaders of both countries are discussing plans to officially end the war between both countries, according to an official quoted in the South Korean Munhwa Ilbo newspaper.

Both countries reached a truce in the 1950’s to de-escalate the Korean war, but never reached peace terms.

In 2013, Kim Jong-un and North Korea announced plans to enter a “state of war” with South Korea, severing a military hotline between the two nations.
