Maryland’s Great Mills High School was placed on lockdown Tuesday morning following a shooting incident in which injuries were reported.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is on the scene, which is described as “contained.” FBI and ATF agents are en route.

NBC Washington reports that there were “multiple injuries” and the sheriff’s office is asking parents not to come to the school at this time. Instead, students are being transported to a school in Leonardtown for pickup.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) responded to news of the shooting, tweeting:

Maryland instituted the Firearms Safety Act (FSA) in 2013. FSA banned the sale and possession of “high capacity” magazines, banned “assault weapons,” and required would-be purchasers of handguns to submit fingerprints to the state police. Baltimore homicides surged in the wake in the gun controls.
