Hillary Clinton Campaign General Counsel Represented Group Investigated for Registering Dead People to Vote

The Hillary Clinton campaign’s general counsel, Marc Elias, is linked to an investigation involving dead people joining the voter rolls in a swing state.

Elias is a partner at the high-powered Washington law firm Perkins Coie and serves as general counsel to Hillary for America. Elias also represented groups including The Ohio Organizing Collaborative in filing a lawsuit in Ohio contesting voter ID laws in the state ahead of the 2016 election.

But now, the Ohio Organizing Collaborative is being investigated by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation regarding “questionable voter registrations” that led to at least five deceased persons being signed up to vote.

Reached for comment, the Collaborative told Breitbart News that it dropped out of the voter-ID lawsuit in question and no longer has Elias on retainer.

“In October, we were alerted by the Columbiana County Board of Elections that a small number of voter registration cards filed appeared to have been fabricated,” Collaborative spokeswoman Laurie Couch told Breitbart News in a statement. “We immediately and fully supported this investigation, because we value the integrity of our elections.”

“Almost all of the cards in question appear to have been submitted by one former canvasser. That person is no longer employed by us and we have placed her supervisor on administrative leave pending a thorough internal investigation into the incident,” Couch’s statement continued. “The cards being investigated represent one tenth of one percent of cards submitted by our team this year; clearly the alleged actions of one former employee do not reflect the overall quality of our program.”

Elias did not immediately return a request for comment.
