During GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump’s foreign policy speech on the U.S.S. Iowa Battleship, protesters interrupted the fundraiser chanting “Dump that Trump!”
But as Trump supporters strode off the ship after the event, one Hispanic Trump supporter, Jorge Herrera, started a chant back at the protesters, and other Trump supporters echoed.
Herrera seemed annoyed that the protesters were calling Trump a racist and started to yell back at them, and the crowd of Trump supporters joined in chanting, “U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A!”
Of Mexican heritage, but now a resident of California, Herrera spoke exclusively to Breitbart News about why he came out to support Trump.
“They don’t understand that there’s nothing wrong with wanting legal immigration reform. There’s nothing wrong or racist with wanting a system where we can allow good people to come in and the bad people can stay out,” Herrera told Breitbart News.
“There’s no reason people should break federal law and everybody’s entitled to pay taxes and play by the system,” he added. “I’m here because I support Trump. He’s a self-made man. He’s a true patriot – I’ve done my own research and I believe in what he says.”
Herrera spoke about the blowback Trump sustained after speaking about illegal immigration during his presidential announcement speech back in June, where many business partners broke contracts with Trump as a result of Trump speaking about the crime that results from illegal immigration.
“I am 100 percent Mexican blooded. I didn’t take one offense to what he said because if you look at what he said statistically, it’s true,” Herrera explained. “People don’t like the truth, but statistically, he’s right.”
“Nobody wants to look at the numbers, but he’s not lying. He’s not racist. He’s just pointing out a real problem.”
