U.S. Marshals booked a Hispanic man with U.S. citizenship, 45-year-old Robert Guardiola, accused of years-long child sex abuse, on Wednesday after Mexican authorities flushed him out of a town and extradited him to the U.S.
According to ABC 15, a girl less than 14 years old came to authorities in September 2013 to admit that Guardiola, a family friend, had sexually abused and molested her for years. During the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office investigation, they found that Guardiola preyed on another young girl as well. Guardiola quickly fled to Mexico. In February 2014, he told authorities he would surrender, but then vanished again.
Guardiola is charged with 11 counts of sexual abuse and sexual misconduct with a minor. His mugshot depicts him after police took him into custody on a marijuana possession charge, according to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.
