Muhammad Art Attack Conspirator Gets 30 Years

The only known, living terrorist connected to the May 2015 attack at the Muhammad Art contest in Texas, Abdul Malik Abdul Kareem, has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison. Prosecutors had been asking for a life sentence. Kareem, whose given name is Decarus Thomas, is a former Baptist who converted to Islam.

Dallas County Votes to ‘End Nonessential Collaborations’ with ICE

On the same day that the Texas State Senate voted to cut funds for sanctuary cities, the commissioners court of Dallas County passed the “Welcoming Communities” resolution. The prosecution of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has taken some weird turns this past week. A court of appeals ordered payments to the special prosecutors stopped, and in an unrelated criminal case, a federal judge removed one of the prosecutors from representing his client, a member of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club, because he had a conflict of interest.

Santa Fe Leaders Narrowly Defeat Resolution Rejecting Trump Wall

The Santa Fe City Council narrowly failed to pass a controversial resolution that denounced many of the policies of the incoming presidential administration and would have defiantly resolved that the City would “continue to be a sanctuary city.” The resolution also expressly rejected the idea of building a wall at the U.S.-Mexico Border, and mentioned President-Elect Donald Trump by name.
