Texas Troopers Helping Reduce Number of Migrant Got-Aways near Border

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers assigned to Operation Lone Star are making headway in reducing the number of migrant got-aways making their way into the U.S. interior. Troopers track down migrants making their way through ranches located as far as 80-100 miles away from the Mexican border in addition to those being smuggled in vehicles, rail cars, and tractor-trailers.

Migrant Apprehensions in Northern U.S. Border Sector Jump 484 Percent this Year

Swanton Sector Border Patrol agents experienced an increase of nearly 484 percent in the number of migrants apprehended in the first two months of the new fiscal year. In October and November this year, agents apprehended approximately 473 migrants compared to only 81 apprehensions during the same period last year.

Agents assigned to the five Texas-based Border Patrol sectors apprehended more than 130,000 migrants during the first month of the new fiscal year, according to a source operating within U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
