Despite a growing number of European and Asian governments rejecting Chinese-made equipment designed to combat the coronavirus outbreak, Beijing stood firm Monday and said it had not received a single complaint about the quality of its medical supplies.
The response came as the Dutch government joined the global chorus of disapproval and recalled 600,000 medical masks imported from China after the masks were revealed to have defective filters. Dutch officials also said the masks did not fit even though they had a China-issued quality certificate.
China’s Foreign Ministry representative Hua Chunying made the “no complaints” revelation during a press conference after being asked about the quick coronavirus test kits supplied by China not meeting medical standards. She said:
Many countries have recently been purchasing medical products in China. While satisfying domestic demands, we support export by companies with qualifications and credibility, and provide convenience in production, transport and customs clearance to facilitate foreign procurement and orderly exporting. Some countries raised purchasing demands via diplomatic channels, and we recommend qualified companies to the foreign buyers.
As far as I know, we haven’t received any complaints from the buyers about the products purchased via the above-mentioned channel.
Several countries raised doubts on the quality of products imported from China, to which our embassies responded at the earliest time possible.
As Breitbart News reported, there is no shortage of complaints about the quality of the equipment China is rushing onto world markets to capitalise on demand for coronavirus equipment.
Spain, which only trails Italy in the number of recorded coronavirus deaths in Europe, received thousands of E.U. certified coronavirus tests that were revealed to be faulty. The tests were shown to have just a 30 percent accuracy rate in identifying COVID-19 in patients.
The Spanish government has so far sent the communist nation €432 million ($471.4 million/£386.3 million) in exchange for medical equipment to fight the Chinese virus.
In the Czech Republic, as much as 80 percent of the 300,000 rapid test kits imported from China have been found to be defective. The test kits, which are reported to have cost the Czech government €1.83 million, show false-positive and false-negative results when testing patients, according to Prague Morning.
Turkey also announced it had found some testing kits ordered from Chinese companies were not sufficiently accurate, although some U.S. states are looking to build supply chains to the communist state.
Even as the rest of the world was noticing that a great deal of those Chinese masks and test kits are dangerously defective, the Chinese Commmunist Party was applauding its own ability to meet demand.
It used its Global Times newspaper on Sunday to praise itself for keeping its industrial “engine roaring” so it could “ensure global medical supplies amid the pandemic.”
The Global Times also chastised countries that have been reluctant to buy Chinese products, especially after what it called “concerns over the quality of some of the equipment.”
Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) reported on Friday mainland Chinese companies are reaping huge profits selling face masks to combat the virus unleashed upon the world by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
One Chinese manufacturer literally described its operation as a license to print money.
