Franken Opens Double-Digit Lead Over McFadden

Update: The McFadden campaign has offered the following response to the survey. From Tom Erickson, McFadden for Senate spokesman, “If the guys at SurveyUSA really think that Democrat turnout in Minnesota will be higher than 2008 or 2012, then we’d like whatever they’re smoking. Clearly the Democrats don’t feel like Al Franken has a double-digit lead, or they wouldn’t be launching a million dollar attack ad campaign tomorrow.”

A new KSTP/SurveyUSA poll has Democrat Al Franken leading his Republican challenger Mike McFadden 53 to 38 percent.

Polls in late September had Franken up by from 7 – 8 points. If the latest poll is accurate, Franken appears safely on his way to re-election with only a late, major turn-around able to change that.

Two weeks before Election Day, U.S. Sen. Al Franken appears poised for re-election unless there’s a major shake-up in his race with Republican Mike McFadden.

According to our latest , Franken leads McFadden 53 percent to 38 percent.  Another 3 percent support Independence Party candidate Steve Carlson, while 4 percent are undecided and 3 percent prefer other candidates. The poll of 597 “likely voters” has a margin of error of +/-4.1 percent.
