AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Attorney General and Republican nominee for Governor, Greg Abbott, released updated campaign fundraising numbers on Monday, showing the campaign in a very strong position as the last week of early voting begins.
Abbott raised over $4.2 million during the most recent reporting period, September 26 through October 25, and has about $13.3 million cash on hand. Overall, Abbott has raised over $45 million during this election cycle.
The campaign took special pride in sharing that 97 percent of Abbott’s donations have come from within Texas, and they have itemized every contribution received. In contrast, Abbott’s Democratic opponent, State Senator Wendy Davis, has made headlines for out-of-state fundraisers in New York and Hollywood, and has taken advantage of a loophole in Texas’ campaign finance laws to hide the sources of millions of dollars of donations to her campaign.
In a statement provided to Breitbart Texas, Abbott Finance Director Sarah Whitley shared the campaign’s pride and optimism about these strong fundraising numbers. “The incredible support our campaign has received from tens of thousands of Texans is a direct reflection of the enthusiasm Greg Abbott has inspired among Texas voters for his vision to build a better, brighter future for our great state,” said Whitley. “As we head into the final week of the election, our campaign is humbled and grateful to have received the resources we need to elect Greg Abbott as the next governor of the Lone Star State.”
