HOUSTON, Texas — A man being held in a Dallas, Texas hospital has Ebola, Breitbart Texas has learned. According to a statement obtained from the from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), this marks the first Ebola case diagnosed in the United States.
The man was first isolated at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital earlier this week when he exhibited Ebola-like symptoms. The Dallas-based hospital claimed that due to the patient’s recent travel history and exhibited condition, he likely had Ebola.
A spokesperson with the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) told Breitbart Texas that the virus is “spread through direct contact with blood, secretions or other bodily fluids or exposure to contaminated objects, such as needles.”
Ebola symptoms include high fever, headache, muscle aches, sore throat, weakness, and stomach pain, according to WebMD.
DSHS informed Breitbart Texas that “all precautions” are being taken to properly isolate the infected individual, whose identity has not been released.
