In an appearance on Real Clear Politics “Changing Lanes” web video show, Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus reacted to remarks Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) made earlier this week when he characterized President Barack Obama’s amnesty gesture to be a “war on whites.”
Priebus condemned the remarks to RCP’s Tom Bevan and argued the party needs to grow, not shrink.
“That’s obviously a pretty idiotic thing to say,” Priebus said. “I think that – look, aside from all these phrases and war on women and everything else, at the end of the day we have to be a party that grows. That means we have to have more people in our party, not less. I know many people attribute this phrase – a lot of different people, but I’ll just say it’s what we have to do. We have to be a party that wins by addition and multiplication and not subtraction and division. That means we have to grow.”
