The Associated Press’s anonymous source from law enforcement has lifted the anonymity of the person at the NFL to whom he allegedly sent the elevator video of Ray Rice punching Janay Palmer-Rice. It’s Jeffrey Miller.
Unfortunately, the league’s director of security, who denies seeing the video, isn’t the only person named “Jeffrey Miller” who works at the NFL’s headquarters, leaving open the possibility that the video went to the wrong office.
“Since the NFLPA and NFL have launched separate investigations into the league and the Ravens’ handling of Ray Rice’s case, I want to make a few things clear,” the source told the AP. “No one from the NFL ever asked me for the inside-elevator video. I mailed it anonymously to Jeff Miller because he’s their head of security. I attached a note saying: `Ray Rice elevator video. You have to see it. It’s terrible.’ I provided a number for a disposable cellphone and asked for confirmation that it was received. I knew there was a possibility Mr. Miller may not get the video, but I hoped it would land in the right hands.”
The source says he won’t participate in the investigation of the matter conducted by former FBI Director Robert Mueller and says he doesn’t know the woman’s name from the NFL who confirmed receipt of video via a voice mail left on the “disposable cellphone.”
“I unequivocally deny that I received at any time a copy of the video,” NFL Security Director Jeffrey Miller told the Associated Press, “and I had not watched it until it was made public on September 8.”
