Ray Rice is reportedly blaming alcohol for causing him to spit on his wife’s face and sucker punch her unconscious in an Atlantic City casino elevator in February.
According to TMZ, the outlet the leaked the video, “Rice told the Baltimore Ravens he and Janay Palmer had been drinking HEAVILY before the altercation” and “is telling friends he becomes a different person when he boozes it up.”
The Ravens cut Rice and the NFL suspended him indefinitely after TMZ released the elevator footage on Monday.
Rice broke his silence on Tuesday.
“I have to be strong for my wife,” Rice told ESPN’s Josina Anderson on Tuesday. “She is so strong. We are in good spirits. We have a lot of people praying for us and we’ll continue to support each other. I have to be there for (Janay) and my family right now and work through this.”
