Oh boy. The hits keep coming at Brazil concerning the 2014 World Cup. Health officials pulled expired food from England and Italy’s hotels.
The food included fish, butter, and ham. The largest confiscation took place at Italy’s hotel, the Portobello Hotel, in Mangaratiba. According to Reuters, the health inspectors found almost 53 pounds “of seafood and margarine past the sell by date” and 55 pounds “of meat, sauces, cheese and sugar that had no visible sell-by date.” The officials took almost 6 pounds of salmon from England’s hotel, the Hotel Royal Tulip.
The Football Association is not worried over the contaminated food. The organization told England a chef will travel with the team and prepare the meals.
The World Cup has not been friendly to the soccer fanatic country and the tournament does not even start until June 12. Stadiums are not completed and other projects remain unfinished. Officials expect many protests due to the amount of money spent on the tournament instead of social services. The anarchist group Black Bloc promised that they will disrupt at least one game.
