Former Auburn Basketball Player Missing, Presumed Drowned

Tragic news out of Auburn University. Former basketball player Korvotney Barber was reportedly found dead on Sunday from an apparent drowning.

Korvotney Barber had been missing and officials believe he drowned off the Florida coast on Saturday.

He was reported missing at 7PM ET near Pineapple Willy’s and has not been seen since. Swimming was not allowed because of bad weather and double red flags were posted. Another swimmer, Tony Underwood, Jr., drowned Saturday afternoon.

Barber averaged 10.9 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. He played two seasons over seas. He played all four years of college at Auburn. The school is shaken up by this news.

“My thoughts and heartfelt prayers are with the family and friends of Korvotney Barber during this tremendously difficult time,” Auburn athletics director Jay Jacobs tweeted Sunday.

He was only 26 years old.
