Scott Pelley: Is Collins Jackie Robinson?

After NBA basketball player Jason Collins came out on Monday, CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley asked CBS Sports anchor James Brown this question: “Is this a Jackie Robinson moment?”

Brown, in response to the question, said Pelley’s comparison was a “fair one” because Collins was the “first” openly gay active player and was “carrying the burden for so many others.”

The mainstream media continue to eagerly advance the false notion that Jason Collins’s coming out is comparable to Robinson’s crossing the white lines on the baseball diamond for the first time and desegregating the sport.
