Will White House Prosecute Four Star General as Stuxnet Leaker?

According to Newser.com, the Obama Administration has prosecuted eight people under the Espionage Act to date, and may now be setting their sites on another–retired four-star Marine General James “Hoss” Cartwright.

Cartwright, who is also a former deputy of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, says he received a letter “saying he was facing an inquiry over the leak of information on a cyberattack against Iran.” The leak was over a “Stuxnet worm attack against Iran’s nuclear program [which] briefly halted 1,000 centrifuges in 2010.”

At the time the leak took place, “Cartwright was one of Obama’s closest security advisers and the second-highest-ranking military officer in the U.S.”

The FBI has been investigating the leak and focusing on Cartwright since late last year. However, justice officials have filed no charges against him at this time.
