In her memoir, “Not That Kind of Girl,” Lena Dunham alleges she was raped by a “mustachioed campus Republican” named Barry and that the incident occurred on property owned by Oberlin College.
In a chapter titled “Barry,” the creator of HBO’s “Girls” goes into great detail about her alleged sexual assault and recalls that the incident occurred “In the dusty half-light of a college-owned apartment”.
This could be an important fact in any action taken by the university itself.
Breitbart News confirmed with the Office of Safety and Security at Oberlin College that through media reports the office has created an “official report” on Dunham’s allegations. According to the director, Marjorie Burton, whether things move forward will depend on whether the incident “is considered a violation of [campus] sexual misconduct policy.”
Ms. Burton also said that local law enforcement has been notified of the allegations and that an important factor in the case moving forward will be if Dunham “wants to go forward.”
According to Dunham’s memoir, she was raped by Barry when she was 19. Dunham, who is now 28, also claims that she heard stories of Barry hurting two other woman. One woman was allegedly punched “in the boobs at a party.” Another was left with a “blood spattered wall” after a consensual sexual encounter.
That statute of limitations for rape in Ohio is 20 years.
