The odds of The View finding a better ideological balance shrank when we heard far-left comic Rosie O’Donnell will be returning to the show.
Now, we’re learning who will be pulling the strings on the revamped chat show. O’Donnell should find herself in some comfortable company, according to Variety.
Bill Wolff, who exec produces MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show” and serves as vice president of that news outlet’s primetime programing, is leaving the NBCUniversal-owned network to run “The View” at ABC, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The View appears intent on bringing a conservative on board to share different view points to the program. That’s all well and good, but that person could end up like those brave conservatives on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher. Those token right-of-center guests are usually outnumbered by the host and fellow guests who share Maher’s progressive views.
One wonders if Wolff’s connection to the show was planned weeks in advance and helped convince O’Donnell to return to the show.
