The team behind Miley Cyrus’s Bangerz tour is reportedly meeting to respond to a flood of complaints by parents that the tour is too explicit for her still-young fan base.
Cyrus left her Hannah Montana persona behind starting last year with an uninhibited performance at the VMAs telecast. Now, with her Bangerz Canadian tour featuring simulated oral sex, twerking and lounging atop phallic symbols, some parents say enough is enough.
MusicFix reports that Cyrus’ management team has been inundated with complaints about the performance, saying that it is just too racy and inappropriate for young fans….Many parents have responded to the show’s reviews by posting their tickets for sale on Ebay and StubHub, while others are demanding refunds and refusing to attend….
“Miley’s management have been flooded with complaints, mainly from parents, since her tour began last week in Canada with calls for the entire tour to be axed,” a source told MusicFix.
The 21-year-old star remains unapologetic about her act. She even said the racy tour is appropriate, even educational, viewing for young fans.
Even though parents probably won’t think this, I think my show is educational for kids,” Cyrus said in the interview. “They’re going to be exposed to art most people don’t know about. People are taught to look at things so black and white, especially in small towns. I’m excited to take this tour to places where [art] like this wouldn’t be accepted, where kids wouldn’t learn about this different kind of art.
