On Thursday, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) called Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) a “bully” in the aftermath of the Senate Democrats’ vote to destroy the historic filibuster. “What we really need is an anti-bullying ordinance in the Senate,” said Paul on CNN. “I mean, now we’ve got a big bully. Harry Reid says he’s just gonna break the rules and make new rules.”
Paul continued:
He’s gotta have everything his way, he’s gotta control everything. This is more about them trying to control the agenda and shift it away from Obamacare than it is about anything else. Basically he’s become the dictator of the Senate. He’s going to bend and break the rules to get his way.
Reid’s historic vote has destroyed a crucial function of the Senate, paving the way for a tyranny of the majority in that chamber. Reid has inadvertently also created the pathway for Republicans to repeal Obamacare, should they win a majority in the Senate come 2014.
