Poll: 51 Percent of Virginia Voters Support NRA

A poll of “800 likely voters in [the Virginia] governor’s race” shows that 51 percent of respondents support the NRA.

Reported by Politico, the poll is seen as good news for pro-gun candidate Ken Cuccinelli (R), and it comes on the heels of Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe’s October 24th announcement that he doesn’t “care what grade [he] got from the NRA.”

McAuliffe also said, “I am not running to be the president of the NRA, I’m running to be governor of Virginia.”

According to the poll, 30 percent of Virginia voters “strongly favor” the NRA, and 21 percent “somewhat favor” the pro-Second Amendment organization.

Respondents opposed to the NRA numbered only 38 percent, with 26 percent who “strongly oppose” and 12 percent who “somewhat oppose” the group.
