Rove To Forge Ahead With 'American Crossroads' Super PAC

GOP strategist Karl Rove, often referred to as “The Architect” of the George W. Bush election campaigns, is vowing to advance his super PAC, American Crossroads, despite the defeat of Mitt Romney and some GOP Senate candidates.

Though Rove predicted a Romney win and the opportunity for the GOP to take back the Senate, the $300 million spent by Crossroads in 2012 failed to accomplish its goals.

“We did good things this year,” Rove told The Washington Post. “But, look, it’s the way of politics that you’re going to have some good years, and you’re going to have some bad years.”

Rove’s comments appear to strike a contrast with the flood of angry and frustrated sentiments from the GOP’s conservative base over what was considered to have been, ironically, a “crossroads” election, one that could change the direction of the country.

Rove was the center of some controversy on Fox News Channel’s election night coverage, when, still working the numbers on his signature whiteboard prop, he appeared to be not accepting that Obama had won the state of Ohio and, ultimately, the election.

“President Obama has become the first president in history to win a second term with a smaller percentage of the vote than he did in the first term,” Rove said on election night. “But he won Karl, he won!” Fox News host Megyn Kelly exclaimed.

Rove continued on to say that Obama “succeeded by suppressing the vote.”

Believing that the 2012 campaign has justified the existence of his super PAC, Rove is mulling over a Crossroads intervention in “picking sides” in Republican primaries. The Washington Post interprets:

The idea would be to boost the candidate it deems most electable and avoid nominating the kind of flawed and extreme ones who cost the party what should otherwise have been easy Senate wins in Florida, Missouri and Indiana.

Rove was criticized by real estate developer and Romney supporter Donald Trump, who tweeted, “Congrats to @KarlRove on blowing $400 million this cycle. Every race @CrossroadsGPS ran ads in, the Republicans lost. What a waste of money.”
