There is now a weekly march in Oakland to protest police brutality (known as the “FTP” march). This Saturday the march got out of hand once again according to Oakland police:
Officers reported that four broken windows and spray paint damage were found along the route of Saturday night’s “FTP” march, most of which were located in the Oakland City Center, according to police…The damaged businesses included Starbucks, Wells Fargo, Leon Savoy Bail Bonds, Scott’s Trade and Quizno’s.
This is not the first time Oakland Occupiers have caught the attention of police this year. In February, three protesters were arrested for theft and hate crimes after they surrounded a woman, made comments about her sexuality, and took her wallet. In January, Occupy Oakland broke into City Hall and vandalized property. The break in and vandalism capped a day in which over four hundred occupiers were arrested.
