As the Senate hearings with Christine Blasey Ford were airing, the NRA tweeted a video rejecting the “smear” campaign against Brett Kavanaugh and reaffirming their commitment to seeing him confirmed.
The video features NRA president Oliver North providing a brief overview of the numerous Democrat attempts to interrupt the confirmation process. He reminds viewers of how Sen. Cory Booker’s (D-Mass.) described himself as “Spartacus” and of the myriad outbursts during the September 4 and 5 Kavanaugh confirmation hearings wherein, “a political party [coordinated] violent protests to smear a father and run his children out of the room.”
North also touches on Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), describing him as “a man who lied about military service, who stole valor,” yet “smears a humble public servant” like Kavanaugh. In 2008 Blumenthal told a group of veterans that he served in Vietnam, but the New York Times reported that Blumenthal never did serve in Vietnam.
Rather, “he obtained at least five military deferments from 1965 to 1970 and took repeated steps that enabled him to avoid going to war.”
North then turns to Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s (D-CA) attempt to “smear” Kavanaugh, reminding viewers that Feinstein “wants to confiscate your firearms.” He highlights her willingness to bring forth an “unsubstantiated allegation” in hopes of derailing Kavanaugh because “he believes in our Second Amendment.”
In the end, North says, “We the people denounce [the] character assassination, [the] hypocrisy, [the] lies, and we proudly stand with Brett Kavanaugh.”
