A suspect allegedly armed and naked was shot by police outside a church in Las Vegas over the weekend.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal identified the suspect as 25-year-old Jason Funke. He was allegedly “threatening to kill himself in the parking lot of the Life Springs Christian Church.”
Video of the incident shows Funke sitting with his back against the doors of the church when police arrive, then allegedly picking up a gun and walking out toward the parking lot.
Before reaching the parking lot, Funke stopped and placed the gun on the ground, apparently in compliance with orders issued by an officer with a K-9. He then began walking toward the officer while holding his hands above his head.
Funke got near the officer then suddenly turned and began running back toward the gun. An officer with a tactical rifle then shot and wounded him, dropping him to the ground.
The Review-Journal reports that Funke was taken to the Clark County Detention Center and booked on “possession of a dangerous weapon on school or child-care property and indecent exposure.”
