Montana governor and Democrat presidential candidate Steve Bullock castigated his party for their public animosity toward one another.

“As I stood on that debate stage last week and then listened to that next night, I saw [Trump’s] reelection becoming more likely with each passing minute,” Steve Bullock said, warning:

Let me put it plainly: We cannot defeat Donald Trump’s politics of personal destruction if we practice the politics of self-destruction. The fact is, we are well on our way to losing this election long before it ever really even is started.

Bullock is calling out the obvious rifts among the Left, as radical progressive candidates go to war against the center-left establishment. In both Democrat debates in the last month, that division was on full display. Some Oval Office contenders even went after former President Barack Obama.

Even Trump noted the display of cutthroat politicking, taking a moment to address it in front of his supporters. “The Democrats spent more time attacking Barack Obama than they did attacking me, practically,” Trump said at a rally in Cincinnati on Thursday.

Bullock made his debate debut last week, not having qualified for entry into the first round. For all his criticism, he was first in line to attack his more progressive peers, calling their plans for health care and education an example of “wishlist economics.”
