Jeffrey Goldberg, National Correspondent for the Atlantic magazine stated that America’s allies in the fight against ISIS “always believe that the Obama administration is a half step behind the challenge on the ground” on Monday’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” on MSNBC.
Goldberg said, in response to a question on how the US’ allies in the fight against ISIS will receive President Obama deploying more special forces to Syria, “[T]he allies always believe that the Obama administration is a half step behind the challenge on the ground.”
He further predicted that the “constant, or semi-constant spooning of a few more forces into the theater of operations into this area of operations” would face criticism from both people who think President Obama isn’t doing enough, and people who believe “he’s falling down a slippery slope, the thing that he’s worried about, that every four weeks, six weeks he’s putting more troops in, more troops in, without a sort of an overarching strategy.”
