Giuliani: ‘Cruz Is a Fastball That the Democrats Have Hit Out of the Park Whenever They Want’

Monday on Fox News Channel’s “The Kelly File,” former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani explained why he is voting for Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump over Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in Tuesday’s New York State Republican presidential primary.

According to Giuliani, it is because Trump has the best shot at defeating Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton in a head-to-head match-up.

“Tomorrow morning, I’ll wake up and go vote for Donald,” Giuliani said. “I’ve urged all my friends to vote for him. I think of the three candidates we have left in the Republican primary, he’s the best candidate and I think he by far has the best chance to beat Hillary Clinton, which is my major objective. If I thought Cruz had a better chance of beating Hillary Clinton, I would support Cruz. And I’ll tell you why — I think Cruz is a fastball that the Democrats have hit out of the park whenever they want. Straight, right-wing, very doctrinaire, very easy to beat, can’t win the Northeast or the West. Trump is a Mariano Rivera cut fastball.”

“He’s unexpected,” he added. “Hillary doesn’t have a rule book for running against Donald Trump. She’s got one for running against Cruz. She’s run against Cruz before.”
