Texas Senator and Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz stated that “the overwhelming majority of violent criminals are Democrats” and the media “desperately” hopes murderers are Republicans in an interview set to air on Monday’s “Hugh Hewitt Show.”
Cruz said the shooting at a Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs “has really displayed the ugly underbelly of the media. Every time you have some sort of violent crime, or mass killing, you can almost see the media salivating, hoping, hoping desperately that the murderer happens to be a Republican, so they can use it to try to to paint their political enemies.”
He added that “the overwhelming majority of violent criminals are Democrats. The media doesn’t report that.” Cruz further accused Democrats of pushing for voting rights for convicted felons because they “know convicted felons tend to vote Democrat.”
