Monday on MSNBC’s “Hardball,” while discussing a new pro-Ted Cruz (R-TX) super PAC ad featuring an anti-gun control message that references Presidents Barack Obama’s gun control push after the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) called on Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to disavow the ad.
Blumenthal said,”Why this ad is so offensive, it shows a basic lack of humanity. I was there when those family learned that their 20 beautiful children and six educators would not be coming home that night. I was there when the president came to comfort them and what this reflects is a lack of humanity and compassion that is really offensive and insulting, demeaning and disrespectful to those families. It so also, I thing shows a lack of leadership. The president of the Untied States is a leader. I call on Senator Cruz to disavow this ad. It isn’t his ad. it’s his PAC’s ad. He can disavow it. I think that in the interest of really restoring basic credibility and trust, he should do that.”
