Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” outgoing Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) criticized “false prophets” on the Republican side over promising what can be done in government.
Boehner said,” You know, the Bible says beware of false prophets, and there are people out there spreading noise about how much can get done. I mean this whole idea that you are going to shutdown government to get rid of ObamaCare in 2013, This plan never had a chance.”
He added, “We got groups here in town, members of the House and Senate here in town, who whip people into a frenzy believing they can accomplish things that they know — they know! — are never going to happen.”
When host John Dickerson asked if he was talking about Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) as one of the false prophets, Boehner referred him “to my remark at the fundraiser I made in August in Steamboat Springs, CO,” in which it was reported Boehner called Cruz a “jackass.”
