A man pulled over for drunk driving by police in Dallas, Texas was not only found to be in the U.S. illegally, but also had some $20,000 hidden in his socks.
After a short car chase, Dallas County Sheriffs pulled over 46-year-old Roberto Laguna Landin on charges of driving drunk but after taking him to the lockup they discovered more than just the open alcohol in his vehicle, The Dallas Morning News reported.
Officers discovered $20,000 in cash with the money split up and fastened to sheets of paper with names and amounts written on them. Police did not speculate about the purpose of the monies.
A police report notes that Landin was seen driving erratically on the evening of September 3 but when officers turned on their lights, the suspect continued driving, refusing to pull over. The driver reportedly then persisted in giving officers a slow-speed chase.
Officers eventually dropped spike strips to force a stop to the vehicle. The report goes on to note that police broke the driver’s side window, after which Landin exited his Chevy truck smiling. There was at least one open can of beer inside the vehicle.
Landin apparently has no other police record.
Immigration officials confirmed to Fox News Latino that Landin was an illegal immigrant who is now on an immigration hold.
