HOUSTON, Texas – A man living in northwest Harris County was shot and killed by a group of men claiming to be police officers. The man’s wife was pistol-whipped during the home-invasion style robbery after three men kicked in the front door.
Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies are asking for the public’s help in identifying the three men who kicked in the front door of a home and killed a man in northwest Harris County after shouting they were police officers, according to Click2Houston’s Anoushah Rasta. Once inside the home, the three men demanded cash from the couple. When the couple said they did not have any cash, the husband was shot to death and the woman was pistol-whipped, deputies told Rasta.
Three children were also in the home, including an autistic 13-year-old. The other children were 2- and 9-years-old.
The woman told the police she and her husband were awakened by the sound of the men beating on the front door. The men claimed to be police officers. As they approached the front door, they heard gunshots and then the robbers kicked in the front door.
The only description of the three suspects was the clothing they were wearing. Police are searching for a man dressed in “all white.” One of the other men wore “all red” and the third wore “all black.” No other descriptions were offered. It was not disclosed if the woman required medical treatment or not. Anyone having information about this trio are urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in Houston.
Earlier in the evening, another Houston man was shot in a home-invasion style robbery. This robbery occurred in an apartment near the Greenspoint Mall area of north Houston, KHOU CBS 11 reported. The shooting occurred about four hours before the fatal shooting of the fake police’s home invasion robbery. It is not known if the two home-invasion shootings are related but the locations are about eight miles apart.
Houston police officers responded to the home invasion of the apartment. The officers told the local CBS affiliate a confrontation occurred between the resident and an unknown number of assailants. At least one of the robbers opened fire, striking the resident in the chest. He was transported to a trauma center where he is listed in critical condition. The Houston Chronicle reported the man is expected to survive.
No other information is available about this incident.
