You know him as Goldberg, the goalie from the early 90’s Disney sports comedy The Mighty Ducks. However, for the next several months, actor Shaun Weiss, who portrayed Goldberg, will be known primarily as an inmate in the Los Angeles County jail.
According to TMZ, Weiss, 38, shoplifted $151 worth of merchandise from a Fry’s Electronics store. Weiss pleaded no contest after his arrest and received a sentence of 150 days behind bars, a tough sounding sentence at first blush. However, Weiss had a prior theft charge on his record.
Nor, is that the most colorful offense within which Weiss has found himself ensnared. In 2013, Weiss was accused of allegedly trying to pee on his girlfriend. The judge eventually tossed the case, but the incident stained Weiss’ reputation.
His manager, Don Gibble, tells TMZ, “[Shaun] hopes jail will help him, and maybe while he is in jail he will write something.”
Presumably, this means writing stand-up comedy material. Since Weiss has done some comedy club performances.
