Dec. 27 (UPI) — Rihanna mourned the death of her cousin on Instagram Tuesday, just one day after the family members spent Christmas together.

“RIP cousin… can’t believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms! never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!!,” the singer said alongside a collection of photos of herself posing with her cousin, Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne.

“Love you always man! #endgunviolence,” she continued.

Alleyne, 21, was shot by an unidentified man Tuesday night while he was walking near his home in Barbados, the Royal Barbados Police Force said in a report from Nation News. Alleyne died later due to his injuries at a hospital.

The shooter fled the scene of the crime and police are investigating the case, Sky News reported.

Rihanna recently made headlines in November when the government of Barbados announced that the street that she grew up on would be renamed “Rihanna Drive.”
