NEW YORK, Aug. 15 (UPI) — Television personality Meredith Vieira says she ended up with a black eye after she tripped over a misplaced suitcase and hit her face during a late-night trip to the bathroom.
“I had to go to the bathroom and I didn’t put the light on,” the New York Post reported Vieira told Hoda Kotb on Friday’s edition of Today. “To get to the bathroom, you go through a little dressing room. I just came back from Los Angeles and Spokane to celebrate [my son] Gabe’s 24th birthday. The suitcase is black and the room is black. I fell over the suitcase and I hit my head on the rim of the dressing-room table.”
The 61-year-old talk-show host acknowledged the accident could have been more serious.
“If it had been a little bit lower, something bad could have happened — something really bad,” she added.
