Hunters rescue elk calf from barbed wire fence in Montana

HELENA, Mont., Nov. 30 (UPI) — A pair of hunters stalking elk in Montana ended up helping one of the very creatures they were seeking when they found a calf tangled in a barbed wire fence.

Bert Sorin said he was on the trail of a herd of elk while hunting with his friends in Montana when they came across the elk calf stuck on the ground with one of its legs trapped in a barbed wire fence.

Video of the incident shows the hunters work to free the baby elk from its predicament.

The hunters said the calf did not appear to be injured and rejoined its herd after being freed.
