Australian Senator: Climate Alarmists Prefer Pictures of ‘Cute, Smiling Dolphins’ to Facts

An Australian senator has used his maiden speech to slam the “fraudulent” climate change industry which he blames for “costing jobs, destroying families, bankrupting businesses” and making his country “less competitive.”

Senator Malcolm Roberts, of the One Nation party, said that his honours degree in engineering, his MBA from Chicago School of Business, his work in the mining industry and his understanding of both finance and earth sciences had helped him to understand that the global warming industry is a scam promoted by political activists.

“Again and again for nearly 30 years climate activists have been warning us that we have just five years to act. Every time nature has proved them wrong.”

He told the Senate that there is no evidence whatsoever that human use of fossil fuels affects climate:

“I have used Freedom of Information requests, correspondence and reports from the heads of the CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation), the Bureau of Meteorology, the UN and the universities, to show that there is no data proving human use of hydrocarbon fuels affects climate. None.”

“Yet the core climate claim is that carbon dioxide from our human activity will one day, some day, catastrophically warm our planet.”

He noted that in the last 130 years, the biggest single temperature trend was the one between the 1930s and the 1970s – during the period of the greatest industrialisation in human history when carbon dioxide increased dramatically in the atmosphere – when temperatures cooled.

“Another inconvenient fact, temperatures statistically have not been warming since 1995.”

“Temperatures are now cooler than 130 years ago and this is the reverse of what we’re blatantly told by the Bureau of Meteorology that has manipulated cooling trends into false warming trends.”

But climate activists and their friends in government aren’t interested in facts.

“Instead of data our science activists invoke morality, imply natural weather events are unusual, appeal to authority, engage in name-calling, ridicule and emotion. They avoid discussing fact and rely on pictures of cute, smiling dolphins. These are not evidence of human effect on climate.”
